Weightlifting with a capital “W” is an Olympic sport in which athletes compete with two lifts: the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. Brightside Barbell Club is designed for athletes who want to focus on improving their Clean & Jerk and Snatch. This class is intended for athletes with some previous experience with these two lifts (most often via CrossFit). Each 75 minute class includes progressions and drills to help you perfect your Clean & Jerk and Snatch technique, accessory work to build strength, and no cardio. :) From time to time, class members will participate in local Weightlifting competitions. Competing is strictly optional.
Classes are capped at 10 people. If your primary goal at Brightside is to improve in the Olympic lifts, we recommend attending Barbell Club twice a week. If you are also attending CrossFit classes, please note, Barbell Club and CrossFit are programmed independently and there may be times where it makes sense to prioritize attendance at one class over then other depending on your goals. Your coaches can provide guidance based on your goals.
PREREQUISITE: Completion of the CrossFit Fundamentals or previous CrossFit or Weightlifting experience.
